Ru’s journey to eSIM Go is anything but ordinary. From running restaurants to revolutionizing telecoms, he’s a self-proclaimed “doer” who loves the hustle and bustle of big ideas and even bigger challenges. With a knack for turning visions into reality, Ru’s story is full of entrepreneurial spirit, bold moves, and striving to be part of a legacy.

The spark that lit the telecom flame

Ru’s passion for technology started young. As a child, Ru was taken to the shop every week to pick up and flick through the latest issue of T3 magazine, dreaming about the gadgets of the future. That early curiosity turned into a fascination with how things work and how brands make them irresistible.

Later on in life, eSIM caught his eye as the most exciting tech since the mobile phone itself. “It’s game-changing,” Ru shares. “I am fascinated with technology and how quickly it is evolving. eSIM could’ve taken me in many directions, but looking at this technology from a consumer brand perspective is where I wanted to go.”

Restaurants and resilience

After studying marketing at the University of Brighton, Ru decided to open his first restaurant, at the age of 21. Four years later, he owned three restaurants, leading a team of 30. He also picked up a NatWest Young Entrepreneur of the Year award along the way.

“One day I was pitching to a banker; the next, I was scrubbing toilets. It taught me everything — leadership, patience, and how to prioritize.”

The corporate leap and tech spokesperson

Ru’s next move took him into affiliate marketing, where he worked with leading brands for over a decade. His 10 years at Uswitch played an important part in his career. While at Uswitch, he helped transform it from a small utilities platform into a household name, working with major resellers, manufacturers, MVNO’s and MNO’s. As a spokesperson, he empowered UK consumers to save money and make smarter decisions through his numerous TV and press appearances.
