eSIM Go today announced its role in the successful launch of Sydney Airport’s tripsim service – a new eSIM-enabled product offering that gives passengers access to affordable data on their travels in over 150 countries. The international airport, which hosts 44m passengers a year, has been equipped to start a significant new, digital-driven ancillary revenue stream with the necessary access to eSIM infrastructure, connectivity and application support, thanks to eSIM Go.
“Sydney Airport’s tripsim is a great example of what’s possible when partners in the travel industry recognise the commercial potential of eSIM technology and call upon eSIM Go to make it happen for them,” said Darren Shaw, Chief Product Officer at eSIM Go. “Once the team at Sydney reached out to us, we were in the ideal position to move quickly. We helped establish a fit for their customers through a collaborative design approach, a working prototype and a final technical design and build of tripsim as we see it today.”
The launch of tripism establishes Sydney as the first airport in its region to embrace eSIM, setting the standard for other airports to follow suit. eSIM technology allows users to roam on multiple plans and profiles with no need to swap out a physical SIM card, change phone numbers or worry about bill shock. The tripsim app embodies all these capabilities and more in a branded package closely aligned with the overall Sydney Airport experience, allowing passengers to choose from a range of data bundles.
“We are always looking for ways to support our passengers in the terminals, but this is the first time we have offered a product to enhance their entire holiday experience. Every year millions of Australians fly out of our T1 international terminal and we’re proud to deliver a new affordable product to help them stay connected while travelling overseas.”
